Q: How bad is it for non-asthmatics to use asthma inhalers?
also what makes non-asthmatics use those inhalers as long as theyr’not sick??????
I’m already asthmatic.but my friends always ask to use mine that’s why I asked.
and I’m not idiot!!!!!
A: It is very bad for them. It speeds up the heart and causes the blood pressure to go up and that overworks the heart.
Q: If you don’t have asthma and use albuterol (asthma inhaler) can you die?
I don’t have asthma but I’m wondering how many inhalations of the pump would it take to overdose? And, what happens when you do overdose on it? Do you die? Has anyone ever died from OD of albuterol?
A: No.
In fact, some high-intensity runners who don’t have asthma use it after they run because it decreases lung inflammation.
Q: why do i feel this way when i use a asthma inhaler?
I was just prescribed a prescription for asthma. I have never had asthma, but my doctor thinks i have asthma and is sending me to a specialist for congestive heart failure. I am sort of young still and i couldn’t breathe that good over the last few days, so i decided to use the prescribed inhaler for the first time. It says to take one or two puffs every so many hours. I took one puff and about 15 minutes later, i felt like i was high or light headed. I have never been high before, but i feel like i have a buzz and can breathe a little easier. My eyes are glassy and i can’t seem to fall a sleep. I haven’t used it again, but i am calling the doctor on monday to see if they gave me the right prescription. My husband has asthma and uses the same inhaler brand as i, so he instructed me on how to use the inhaler, so that i wasn’t misusing it or taking to many puffs at once. Has anyone else ever felt like this before when first starting taking the inhaler prescription for asthma. The prescription is pro-air a common inhaler for asthma. Please only serious inquires.
A: Is it albuterol? If not, maybe it’s a stimulant or steroid.
I know ephedrine is used for asthma sometimes, that does it.
Q: HOW OFTEN CAN I USE MY ASTHMA INHALER?
I just got diagnosed with exercise induced asthma and I am getting an inhaler today but my doctor told me to use it when I need it and I was thinking of using it 2 times a day
When I have P.E 20 mins before running and then use it after I am done running
And then use it for swimming before and after
It would be 2 times a day for 5 days a week would that be okay to use the inhaler anythere time within 30 mins of using it?
A: It exercise is the only time you become symptomatic there should be few dose issues. The standard salbutamol inhaler releases 100 micrograms/ puff. An infant can tolerate 5mgs (5000 micrograms) every 4 hours if need be!
Hopefully your reliever is NOT and MDI (aerosol) however as these are clumsy and difficult to use, dry powder devices such as the Ventolin Accuhaler or the Bricanyl Turbo are much better.
Q: how bad is it for non-asthmatics to use asthma inhalers?
also what makes non-asthmatics use those inhalers as long as theyr’not sick??????
A: Inhalers are prescribed to people who have other lung problems besides asthma. COPD, bronchitis, a number of things. If you haven’t been told to use an inhaler by your doctor you shouldn’t be using one. Especially the over the counter ones. They can be hard on your heart.
Q: what happens if you use an asthma inhaler but you dont have asthma?
okay so yesrday i went over my friends house and i saw an asthma inhaler in her room and i thought it was weird cause she doesnt have asthma
so i asked her why she had it and she said she uses before or after she runs
or when she feels stressed or so angry that she runs out of breath
i was like WTF that doesnt even make sense
she says that now she feels like short of breath and like she cant breath at times
she just went to the doctor and he told her she didnt have asthma
i told her to stop taking it and she asked why
i told her it was bad for her
and again she asked why
but i didnt know how to respond to that
so my question is what DOES HAPPEN TO YOU IF YOU USE AN ASTHMA INHALER AND YOU DONT HAVE ASTHMA?
can anything serious happen
anyting i can tell her to make her stop taking it
what about things not so serious
weight gain? loss of memory? lol idk just anything that will make her stop doing it
but facts not just things you made up
A: it will give you a rush, and that is probably what she is doing. it is very dangerous, because that medicine is used help with breathing, it could cause her to have heart problems, because it does and will speed the blood flow through the heart, or could cause faint or dizzy spells.
Q: How long does it take to see if you have any side effects from using a asthma inhaler?
From the first time u use it 5 mintues?? hours?days??
A: asthma inhalors are fast actiing if they are rescue inhalers … in minutes the side effects will become noticeable, but if the inhalor has a steriod in it it may take a couple of weeks to see the side effctes and those will be much more subtle.
Q: What would happen when people with asthma does not use the inhaler when they suppose to?
Will they faint, shock or what will happen. And if that happend, how are we going to save them?
Also, what is the sign of asthma? How do we know if we have them or not?
A: If you don’t use your inhaler depending on how bad your asthma is, You can experience lightheadedness, and some dizziness too. You dont want to do that. becuase withought oxygen in your lungs your brain is badly affected and brain cells die. That was the warning from my doctor. I hope this helps.
Q: How can I control my Asthma besides using the Asthma Inhaler (pump)?
Last time I used the Inhaler was 3 months ago, when the weather was changing. It has been raining for 3 days and for 3 days I have been getting asthma and I have to use the inhaler 3 times a day. I really don’t want to use it because of the steriods inside the inhaler.
It is hard to pick the best answer. THere are two answers that I would like to pick.
Healthfreak, your answer is very interesting but I would have the community decide if that is the right answer for me because I really need to get better! Thanks everyone!
A: Steam from shower.. Nebulizer worked wonders with me. Theres light therapy that my doctor uses on me sometimes. Umm.. All those medications that u see on commercials are pretty cool although i dont see a difference compared to inhalers. Also some therapy my doctor gave me is if u imagine a balloon in front of u and u spread ur arms out like ur blowing up the balloon when u take a deep breath.. Then u move ur arms in like ur deflating the balloon when u breathe out. Good Luck. Dairy products are actually bad for asthma. Swimming is also great for asthma. Also, don’t worry about the steroids in the inhalers.. not much is used. And use the nebulizer only when ur asthma is bad and frequent since nebulizers are more potent.
Q: How to cure asthma? one of my colleagues is suffering from it and she has to use inhaler.?
one of my colleagues is suffering from it and she has to use inhaler.
A: As far as I know, there is no cure yet.
Using an inhaler isn’t so bad and asthma can be quite manageable.
Q: People with Asthma: How often do you have to use your inhaler?
I need mine several times a day. Is this normal?
A: use of your inhaler should not exceed the stated dose and times. and it is not uncommon for asthmatics to use their inhaler daily, as you indicate, for even a week. however what is important is does the use of the inhaler control the problem. if not then reevaluate the medication regimen. there is no “normal:” use from one asthatic to another. asthamatic sufferers vary in the attack intensities. you just need to understand your asthma attacks, what triggers them, how they respond to medications, and which medications give you the quickest and best relief. sometimes this takes months of doctor visits and trials with medications; adjusting the dose, changing the medication, or adding a new medication to the regimen. typically today inhalers like proventil (albuterol) and singular are the two most common but there are may more which may be better for one sufferer then for another. its trial and error. many a family doctor is not best equipped to understand and treat severe asthma. a pulmonologist allied with a registered respiratory therapist usually will provide the best care for ashmatics (that is my personal empirical opinon)
Q: I’ve got an inhaler for asthma, how do I use it?
I’ve got asthma and went to the doctors earlier with it. I haven’t had an inhaler in about 7 years so I’ve sorta forgot how to use them.
A: Exactly like this…
1. remove the cap
2. place thumb at the bottom of inhaler and index finger on top of it
to hold it upright
3, shake inhaler gently
4. seal your lips firmly around the mouthpiece of inhaler
5. press down firmly on inhaler to release medication.. at the same time take a deep breath in and hold for 10 seconds..
Only use when you feel you need it.. take it to school with you..

Q: Asthma Inhaler… How to use… ?
My doctor now tells me that you don’t touch the inhaler to your mouth unless you have a spacer. Is this the new way?
She said to hold it an inch or two from you mouth.
I doubt that she’s a quack…………

A: I think there IS a new way. Here are 2 websites that are recommending it.
Most people put the mouthpiece of the inhaler directly into their mouths. However, many health care professionals now recommend placing the inhaler an inch or two away from the mouth.

How to use an inhaler
1 Take off the cap and shake the inhaler hard.
2 Breathe out, gently, to empty the lungs as much as possible.
3 Hold the inhaler 1 – 2 inches in front of your mouth (about the width of 2 fingers).
4 Start breathing in slowly through your mouth, and then press down on the inhaler once. (If you use a spacer, first press down on the inhaler. Within 5 seconds, begin to breathe in slowly.)
5 Keep breathing in slowly, as deeply as you can.
6 Hold your breath as you count to 10 slowly, if you can

Q: I was diagnosed with asthma today, and I used my inhaler for the first time an hour ago, and it didn’t help?
I went to the doctor and he said I have asthma and I used my inhaler for the first time an hour ago. The pharmacist showed me how so I know I used it right. But it hasn’t helped at all!
A: This is a common patient complaint. There are 3 possibilities why you didn’t get relief from your inhaler.
1) Improper technique. Unfortunately, the vast majority of patients, nurses, pharmacists, and doctors do not know the proper way to use an inhaler (you don’t put it in your mouth!). Because the proper technique is difficult to teach, a much easier way is to use a spacer. Using this device (there are dozens of different designs – ask your doctor) will maximize the amount delivered to the lungs and minimize the amount deposited on the inside of your mouth & throat.
2) Medication choice. While most asthmatics are prescribed albuterol (a short-acting bronchodilator), there are other inhaled asthma medications. These may include long-acting bronchodilators or inhaled steroids, both of which may require a few days before achieving their full effect.
3) Not asthma. Not all that wheezes is asthma. Other causes of wheezing may include abnormal vocal cord movements, upper airway compression, COPD, and heart failure. A pulmonary function test (PFT) should help your doctor make the diagnosis accurately.
Q: Are there any other treatments for asthma than just using the inhaler all of the time?
I know there are some instances where I need to take more of the inhaler than I’m allowed to take. I am only prescribed to take 2 puffs every 4 hours but sometimes it doesn’t seem to work all of the time and I take more. I know that some people say that taking the inhaler will do heart and brain damage but why and how? Also, why do I to need to take the inhaler more often than I’m allowed?
A: Here some tips for control asthma 1. use inhaler regularly three time in 24 hours not use more. because it has side effect also but other medicine have lot of side effects. 2. care about these things don,t use cold water care about dust and don,t use carpet in your room, care when change the season these all things effect on asthma. try to see the Dr. on daily basis.
