Q: Do Allergy shots count as treatment for asthma?
Do allergy shots count as treatment for asthma? I have not been directly treated for asthma since I was about 8 or 9, but still take allergy shots and will be for about another year (’till I’m 15) Is that a DQ? Also, how hard is it to get a waiver for asthma treatment under the age of 13? Do I need to take a Pulmonary test? What doctor do I go to get it from? Thanks, I want to go into the Army Reserve to be an ITS if that helps.
A: By the time your 17 the way it sounds from what you said then you might not have to take the allergy shots and at 17 is usually when you can join but most join at 18. I think you should be good thou because most people get away with it when they ask if anything is physically or mentally wrong with you. I know a couple people that grew out of asthma and still has asthma that are in the army. They just didn’t tell their recruiter or any of em that they had it. Hope this helps you out some what.
Q: H1N1 treatment for those who have Allergy and Asthma?
I have both allergy (to egg) and asthma. I have heard that both Tamiflu and Relenza should not be taken by those who have allergy to egg and asthma. So, if I have swine flu, which medicine I can take?
A: Good call not wanting to take the available vaccination for H1N1 mate ~

The very best protection against any flu is to practice good hygiene, eat fresh fruits and vegies, drink lots of water, avoid processed sugar like the plague (bacteria will only flourish and thrive on it) …. avoid junky food alltogether actually …… pinpoint any food intolerances and address them and get plenty of sleep …….. natural remedies like olive leaft extract are fabulous natural antibiotics and do a superb job of kinghitting colds and flu …….. vitamin C powder with bioflavonoids is also a natural antibiotic which is a very potent remedy for alleviating the symptoms of cold and flu enormously and will also help in reducing fever and inflammation…… you can get the olive leaf extract especially formulated for children too but the active ingredient (oleuropein) is still at the same dosage but they’ve just added flavoring ….. or sugar …. naturally flavored olive leaf extract is the best….. just adjust dosage appropriately for children and read the instructions on the bottle.
peace baby

A: Well outside there is little you can do unless you wear a mask-however in doors you can do the following
1. remove rugs and curtains in your room(they hold dust.
2. Put up blinds on your windows and wipe them down weekly
3. Buy pillow covers – they will keep out mites.
4. Buy a case to seal up your bed in. Get a case that can be wiped down
5. buy a non allergenic blanket
have a pair of comfortable clothes that you can put on as soon as you get home. before going into your room take a shower and put those clean clothes on. leave a hamper in the bathroom to store that days dirty clothes.
it will cost you money at first but the relief you get will pay for it in the end
Q: What treatment CAN’T you get without health insurance?
Can you still receive treatment for allergies, asthma, dental exams, therapy, or counceling? Can you receive medications or immunizations? Will they immediately dismiss you if you do not have insurance and you need treatment for cancer? Will they dismiss you for a regular checkup at a doctor? What about a physical exam?
Thanks =)
A: If you have the cash or line of credit to pay then you can get anything you need. With regards to treatments like Kidney Dialsysis, the government pays for it. Some cancer societies will help pay for treatment, but you have to prove you’re in need.
Insurance is there to help pay for things…. you can get anything you want done without it, but expect to pay out the nose.
Lastly, emergency room services cannot deny you treatment just because you have no insurance. It’s the law. If you don’t pay your bill they will pursue matters in court.
Q: Healthy Natural Treatment Alternatives for Asthma and Allergies?
NO STERIODS!!! Don’t like them won’t take them any longer and they really don’t work very well anyway. I’m miserable though and need something but I’m so worn out by traditional medicines. I want something healthy and all natural.
A: Asthma can be very serious if not treated correctly. I have been suffering from asthma for 24 years- since I was born and I know how awful it can be! Are you talking about predisone (the 10 day prescription for extreme cases of flare ups), or daily control steroids? The prednisone can make anyone go nuts and I hate when the dr. says you need to take these for 10 days- but the everyday steroid is just to keep your asthma under control and you should really consider trying it at least. I hope that you still have your rescue inhaler for attacks…
The next best thing is salt water- anytime I am around a beach or an ocean, my breathing improves dramatically (The nebulizer machines use part salt water and albuterol)
I have heard of these salt water inhalers, but I have never tried one myself— this could be what you are seeking, but again I have never tried it so I dont know if it works… here I found a website of the salt inhalers- they are a little expensive but here is… http://www.natural-salt-lamps.com/saltpipe.html
Good luck to you! If you try it- let me know how it goes! Take care!!!
Q: Do you know any cure or treatment for a breathing allergy?
I’m 18 and since I was born I have a breathing allergy, it is not asthma and I do not get swollen, it’s just that some things such as dust, humidity, certain fabrics make me unable to breath, and I’m afraid of using pills because most of them cause heart diseases so I’m wondering if there’s any cure that doesn’t risk my heart or any other part of my body in that case.

Q: anti-histamines used in treatment of various allergies & asthma are steroids .do they have -ve effect on body
use of these medicines decreases the average life of a person or affects the working of vital organs like heart, kidneys, liver etc.
A: There are two generations of anti Histamines
*FIRST GENERATION
include pheniramine(Avil) promethazine(phenergan) etc
side effects are frequent, but generally mild – include sedation,
diminished alertness, light headedness, fatigue and tendency to fall asleep are most common.
*SECOND GENERATION
include Cetrizine(Alerid) , Loratidine(Lorfast)
side effects are very few
no major organ complications, no reduction in life expectancy
And remember any antihistamine overdosage(poisoning) can cause convulsions or organ failure (for that you will need to eat 30-50 tabs at once, so dont worry)
Q: What is holistic medicine & can it help with my allergies/asthma?
A friend recommends that I try holistic treatments for my allergist & asthma. Could holistic treatments help?
Also when I did a Google search I found this Website http://www.allergifree.com/ which claims that
Dr. Opachich has found a way to eliminate all allergies completely in 80% of his patients. Even pet, seasonal & food allergies.
Could this really work or is it too good to be true?
Thank you for your opinion & any advise.
A: u go for German Homeopathy medicine for 1yr treatment it will cured surly.
Q: what is your own treatment to your asthma or before when sysptoms arise?

A: Take your medicine as your doctor prescribed, don’t smoke and keep your inhaler with you ay all times. Yes, and good hygiene is important too.
God bless.
Q: What else to do to help my child with asthma?
My son (18 months) was just diagnosed with allergies and asthma. He’s also had RSV. We are on a daily allergy medicine and breathing treatments 2x a day. I am just wondering if there are any other things I should/should not be doing inside the house to make the air cleaner for him. We live in a brand new home, have a top of the line a/c system with CleanEffects Air Cleaner, and I am just wondering if there is anything else I should do.
Thanks
A: Has he been checked for acid reflux? This too can worsen asthma symptoms.

A: Try not to have alot of stuff animals around his room since those are really dust collectors and dust is horrible for asthma. Try not to use the deodorizing sprays when he is in the room and other cleaning detergents. Cats and furry animals they say are not good either. I have a nephew with asthma and for the most part we have done all these things and he has been doing quite well. Smoke of course is number one for asthma so NO SMOKING which I am sure you already know but just a quick reminder. Hope this was of some help.
Q: allergy sinus or asthma?
for quite some time ive been batteling sinus problems, coughing, etc.
had sinus surgery two years ago for deveated septum…. then over past year have had horrible cough…. drainage…. loss of voice… been seeing ENT, respitory doctor, and still trying to figure out the problem.
It doesn’t seem so heady…meaning nose running, headache ect. its more like upper chest lower throat, a lot of constant coughing… and a wheezing sound in my vocals when i breath in and out.. tightness of the chest and shortness of breath.
i did every over the counter, cough medicine, and z packs….
now im gona do asthma test and allergy test…
does it sound to you like it could be allergy or asthma? and what are the treatments involved….
A: Sounds like you have uncontrolled allergies that can possibly be causing some asthma. You are headed down the right path in consulting with either an allergist or immunologist. These professionals can perform simple skin or blood tests to determine if your symptoms are being caused by allergy, and if so to which allergens you are reacting. Based on the results, they will give you a 3 pronged course of action. First will be allergy control/avoidance, second will be immunotherapy (not done if food allergy is the cause), third will be medication. If you are experiencing asthma they will prescribe medications that will decrease the inflammation in your airways so that you can breathe easier. For example, I am allergic to dust mites, if I am not controlling my allergies I am terribly ill. But, I follow the allergy control procedures for dust mite control (basically setting up a dust free bedroom with some bedding and washing in de-mite) and I rarely need medication.
Just for grins, I will give you a link about those nasty little microscopic creatures and a link to how to set up a dust mite allergy free bedroom so that you can see how simple it was for me to do and get well.
Good luck!
Q: Is swine flu a more serious concern for children with asthma?
My 2 year old has allergy induced asthma and breathing issues. Whenever she gets any kind of cold or flu it’s 3 times worse than it would be for another child. Within a day we have to start throwing every breathing treatment we can at her just to fight back. Worst case, if my child were ever to get the swine flu, would she be in serious trouble? Would she more likely become a serious case?
A: yes they are here read this
